Golf Grip

A good golf grip is essential to playing a good game of golf. If you are gripping the club incorrectly or too hard, you will end up with shots that go places you don’t want them to go.

There is no one exact science to the golf grip, but there are three basic golf grips that golfers use today:

* The overlapping grip is the most common golf grip used. It is used mostly by male golfers and those with strong wrists and forearms. The little finger of the right hand lies on top of or overlaps the index finger on the left hand.

* The baseball grip is most commonly used by younger golfers, females, seniors, and those with weaker wrists and arms. The index finger of the left hand and the little finger of the right hand meet but do not overlap or interlock.

* An interlocking grip will be used by golfers with shorter hands and fingers, those with thicker or chunkier palms, and golfers who have difficulty with the overlapping grip. The index finger of the left hand and the little finger of the right hand overlap each other and interlock. Here is the basic way to grip a golf club no matter which grip you use. Start by holding the club directly in front of you with your right hand with the club head pointing away from you at about a 45 degree angle.

Next grip the club with your left hand. The club will be mainly in the palm across the pads at the base of the fingers. However, the club will lie across the first section of the index finger. The thumb will be positioned straight on top of the golf club shaft. Relative to the golf club, the thumb will be in the twelve o’clock position.

Now, with your right hand, grip the golf club just above your left hand with the fingers, not the palm, of your right hand. The thumb will be positioned slightly off to the left. Relative to the golf club, the thumb will be in an eleven o’clock position.

If you have gripped the golf club correctly, only the first two knuckles of your left hand will be visible. Also, your left thumb should be completely hidden under your right hand. The index finger position of your right hand will look and feel like a gun trigger finger. If your golf grip pressure is right, the club could almost be pulled out of your hands, but not quite. The confidence you will get from holding the golf club in the correct way will make you feel as though you are holding the club mostly in the palm and the last three fingers of your left hand. Both hands should should hold the club in equal pressure. A correct golf grip doesn’t guarantee a successful golf swing; however, a defective golf grip will almost always result in a failed golfGolf Driving Range

Many golf courses have driving ranges. These driving ranges are instrumental in helping you improve your game, and you should use them as much as you possibly can. Even though it’s called a driving range, you can practice all of your golf shots on the range. By taking advantage of this valuable tool offered by your golf course, you are sure to improve your game.

It is most important to know how far consistantly you are able to hit the ball. By taking advantage of the golf driving range, you will get a great idea of how far your driver can go as well as your 9 iron. Once you know how far you can hit your clubs, you will be able to practice some great course management skills when you are out on the course.

Start out with a bucket of balls and your driver. Try out various stances and see which ones help you drive the ball farther. When you hit a lot of balls watch very intently what works and what doesnt. When you find a shot you are pleased with, hit several more balls using that same technique to see if it was just a fluke or if you can replicate it over and over again.

You should then move on to other ckubs such as your fairway woods and irons. Practice the same technique with these clubs. You may have to buy another bucket ? or bag on some courses ? of balls, but believe me, it will be well worth the money when you are able to effectively know what clubs will give you the yardage you need and want.

Many golf courses have lighted driving ranges, so even if you can’t play the course, you can still work on your swing in the evening hours. Many people find that having a lighted driving range can help them work on their swing at inconvenient hours when daylight has left but they still feel the desire to swing a club.

One point you need to keep in mind when on the golf driving range is that you are playing in perfect conditions. Sand traps bunkers and hazards dont exist you are now focusing to the best of your ability. Just because you can hit a 300 yard drive on the range doesn’t necessarily mean you can do the same on the course.

However, you can certainly learn a lot about your golf game when you are on the driving range. Don’t pass up the chance to practice as much as you can. Practicing is best done on the golf driving range, so buy a bucket of balls and whack away. What youll find out you will never know! swing

Today, martial arts have become very much popular among young kids and adults alike. Different types of martial arts are being learnt by people for many reasons like self-protection, weight loss and for physical fitness.

Some of the most popular martial arts are judo, karate and jujitsu. Mixed martial arts are also becoming more and more popular these days. Mixed martial arts involve the use of a combination of martial arts techniques to overpower the attacker. Mixed martial arts (MMA) championships like the Ultimate Fighting Championships and PRIDE Fighting Championships have added to the gaining popularity of this art.

Mixed martial arts and the new age boxing have their origins in martial arts like judo, karate and jujitsu. They began as experiments in which one martial arts combat technique was used against another in an attempt to find out which technique was most suitable against real life attackers. Modern martial competitions are based on these events but stricter rules have been implemented. These rules were implemented so that mixed martial arts would gain more popularity. However, there are no universal rules and rules vary from place to pace. Also there is no central organization that governs modern martial arts rules.

The most common techniques used in mixed martial arts are striking and grappling. A variety of techniques like kicking, kneeing and punching are used to strike the opponent. Grappling techniques involve throwing, sweeping and holds. As rules vary among organizations some moves may or may not be considered legal. For example, head butting and spinal locks are legally valid in some championships and illegal in others. Techniques like eye-gouging and spinal locks are not considered legal.

Participation in modern martial arts championships requires a lot of hard work and training. Training makes perfect in overpowering any sort of attack. Training also helps one to stay fit and gain confidence. It also improves one’s power of character. A variety of techniques are taught during training. Boxing and kick-boxing are taught to make the standup techniques effective while jujitsu is used to dominate the ground attacks. Many styles have to be adapted to achieve success in modern martial arts. Sticking to a single technique may prove itself to be ineffective. Further, these styles have to be changed and adapted to the situation. Most of the MMA competitors learn all the styles together and independently under many coaches. Flexibility and adaptive nature play an important role in being successful. Being competent is the only key to success in modern martial arts.

Having a tough time losing body fat from those problem areas? If your current cardio program is failing you, then interval training could be your answer.

Interval training, done correctly, has been proven to be the most effective way to lose stubborn body fat.

Interval Training Creates a Large Calorie Deficit

Although it seems logical to use traditional cardio, there are problems. With traditional “target heart rate” cardio you typically only burn calories when you are engaged in the workout. With interval training you are boosting your metabolism for many hours after the workout. It has been shown that interval training can burn up to 6 times the calories compared to traditional cardio. I suggest choosing interval training to drop body fat at much quicker rate than traditional aerobic exercise.

I have used different variations of this basic interval training workout for 6 years. This allows me to have six pack abs year round. It works very well!

1) Find a solid treadmill, elliptical machine, or exercise bike

2) Walk or ride at a Steady State Cardio Pace for 1.5 minutes

3) Jog or peddle fast for 30 seconds (set the resistance higher)

4) Go back to the same Steady State Cardio Pace for 1.5 minutes

5) Jog or peddle fast for 30 seconds (higher speed/resistance than the first time)

6) For 20 minutes you will continue alternating between high intensity efforts and low intensity efforts

Please Note: You are going to want to make it so it will be hard to complete your last 30 seconds of intense effort. If you find that you aren’t completely breathing hard and sweating, then you need to go for another few rounds. If you do everything properly your skin should be hot, you should be sweating, and breathing hard. This is an indicator that your natural fat burning hormone, HGH, will be released. This is what will really burn off the stubborn body fat like crazy. You are going to love the results you get from interval training.

When I was growing up, the Seattle Mariners’ Triple-A affiliate was in my hometown. I didn’t realize how lucky I was at the time to watch players like Danny Tartabull, Tino Martinez, Edgar Martinez and, briefly, Alex Rodriguez, take their last steps towards impressive pro careers.

Because of those experiences I have always had a bit of a soft spot for the lowly Mariners. They’ve been a hard franchise to get behind for a while now, but this year I do feel like they are worth defending. They aren’t a great team, but they are much better than people give them credit for, and they have been very kind to their backers. Here are my top four reasons why the Mariners deserve more respect than they get from most bettors:

Offensive upside - The team isn’t setting the world on fire with their bats, but the fact is that they have been scoring enough runs to be a game above .500, and they have done that despite not getting the production they can expect from several key players. Ichiro Suzuki got off to his typically slow start, but he has been heating up gradually over the last dozen games or so. Adrian Beltre and Richie Sexson have big bats, but you’d never guess it from their combined .213 batting average. They have a lineup full of proven hitters, and there is solid reason to believe that most of them will get better as the season goes along. No one is the lineup is playing unsustainable ball right now, either, so the team won’t struggle when someone falls back to earth. More than one of these guys is going to get hot at some point this year, and that is going to turn into wins.

A sign of the offensive potential is the way that they have absolutely dominated left-handed pitchers this year. They are 6-2 when they have faced a southpaw starter, and they have scored more than two runs per game more in those games than they have against righties. In fact, the only thing they have consistently struggled with all year is facing right-handers on the road. A little improvement could go a long way.

The other comforting part of how the team is performing offensively is their batting discipline. That seems odd to say about a team that has far fewer walks than anyone else in the league. More importantly, though, they have also struck out far fewer times than any other squad. If they aren’t striking out a lot then they aren’t swinging at a ton of pitches that they shouldn’t, and their good eye at the plate is going to be rewarded sooner or later.

The Weaver Factor - There is no way to overstate how bad Jeff Weaver has been this year. He is 0-6 in six appearances, and all six of those starts have been completely hopeless after a couple of innings thanks to his complete inability to get anyone out. His ERA is 14.32 in 22 innings, and frankly, he’s lucky that it’s that low. While it is bad decision making at it’s worst that led to Weaver being offered a fairly sizable contract in the offseason, the point is that this team is good enough to still be above .500 despite having him on the team. There is no team in the league that could win with him as he is, so you really have to consider that this team is at least a few wins better theoretically than it is on record.

There’s another element to this team that Weaver exposes, too - they are a very mentally tough squad. Losing games like they do with him has to be humiliating, yet they have bounced back to post a 4-2 record in the game after he appears, and one of those losses was the game in which Felix Hernandez left with an injury just one out into the start. Lesser teams would use Weaver as an excuse to give up. The injury to King Felix is another sign of that toughness. Their young ace was off to an amazing start before he got hurt. They responded to his absence by losing that game and the next four. They were able to regroup, though, only losing Weaver’s start over the next eight. Their record has been better without Hernandez than it was with him.

The Bullpen - This stat is so incredible that you might not believe it to be true - the Mariners are 16-0 when they have had the lead going into the seventh inning. That’s a sure sign that the bullpen is firing on all cylinders. J.J. Putz may have an unfortunate last name, but he has been as solid as any closer in the league with nine saves in as many attempts. He’s joined by guys who aren’t exactly big names, but who are getting it done - Eric O’Flaherty, Chris Reitsma, George Sherrill. They added the hard throwing Jason Davis from Cleveland, a player Mike Hargrove is familiar with from his days with the Indians, to add more depth. A bad bullpen can make a decent team pretty lousy, but a great bullpen can make an average team look good. For this reason alone you have to like the Mariners, especially when they give the ball to someone who can give the bullpen a lead to work with.

They make money - This one shouldn’t need a lot of explanation. They have been profitable over the season, and they have been winning consistently recently as underdogs. The numbers get even more impressive if you throw out the game any time that Weaver takes the mound. Whether you think this team is any good or not, the undeniable truth is that they have been consistently better than oddsmakers think that they are.
